M.Ed., LAC, NCC / Licensed Associate Counselor

I believe that seeking out help during a difficult time is one of the most vulnerable displays of personal strength. I meet my clients where they need me to do so – in a collaborative, empathetic environment that fosters growth in ways that are consistent with each person’s desire to change.

Anxiety disorders, ADHD, Depressive disorders, Disabilities, Grief, LGBTQIA2+ issues, Relationship issues, Stress, Trauma

People are amazing. A wonderful man named Carl Rogers once likened appreciating an individual to appreciating a sunset. No one scrutinizes or shames a sunset – it is worthy of appreciation as it is. When I meet with clients, I find myself immensely privileged to observe the dynamic nature of their healing. Clients follow the healing path that is authentic to their values and goals – I get the honor of being with them for the journey. It’s an incredible gift to appreciate so many people through my work each day.

BA, CPRS / Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern

My experience in this microcosm of society is that there isn’t a light switch or a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe that together we will create a personalized plan to acquire and tackle the individual goals necessary in life to produce change within. Having walked this path myself and with countless others is what brings meaning to the life we have always hoped for.

Addiction, Anger, Anxiety, Coping Skills, Depression, Family, Harm Reduction, Relationships

My method of assistance is utilizing past and present life experiences as well as education within the substance abuse and mental health fields. The world today is a microwaved existence; freedom from self is a journey in which I will assist and walk every step of the way with an individual carving out the landscape they have always dreamt and hoped for.

Cailyn Lavigne

MA, LAC, NCC / Licensed Associate Counselor

I understand my role as a counselor to be that of a collaborative partner, someone who can promote wellness in clients through being non-judgmental, validating, creating a safe space, practicing empathy, respect, genuineness and authenticity. I believe that we as human beings all share a fundamental need for belongingness and connection and deserve to be seen, heard, valued, and appreciated. Honoring where individuals currently are in their life journey, while compassionately working towards meaningful change in accordance with individual goals is foundational to my approach in supporting clients. I am drawn to the bio-psycho-social-spiritual and wellness models of counseling and am passionate about holistic, whole-person care. I believe that gratitude, self-care, and acceptance are powerful practices that can positively influence our mindset and perspective and lead to lasting change. As a therapist, I believe educating clients and providing psychoeducation throughout the therapeutic process is a powerful intervention as it helps to build and grow your own coping skill set and knowledge toolbox.

I realize that healing is not linear, and that this process looks different for everyone. Treatment must be tailored to meet each person’s individual needs while taking other important factors into consideration such as race, gender/ gender identity, culture, sexual orientation, age, and lifestyle factors, in order to gain a more comprehensive understanding on how to best serve each client with the best quality care. Therapy is not a “one size fits all” situation, which is why I offer an integrative approach and eclectic therapeutic style in my work with clients. I work with adults, young adults, teens, and adolescents and draw from many treatment modalities such as Person-Centered, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, Mindfulness and Mind-Body based interventions. In our journey together, we will work on cultivating a deeper sense of self-awareness (the first step in any behavioral change) by exploring thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behaviors that could potentially be causing distress and pain, while also utilizing your own personal strengths to feel empowered to build your life worth living.

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023, and am foundationally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. In the future, I plan on completing a certified yoga teacher training in order to most effectively integrate body-based interventions in my work with clients.  I like to spend my free time putting energy into things that fill my heart and soul. Some of these things include spending quality time with my favorite humans (family and friends), baking/cooking, running, spending time outside in nature, hiking/ camping, practicing yoga, reading, beach days, traveling, and going to concerts.

Like the old saying goes, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” I look forward to braving the storms of life together, and learning how to keep dancing, no matter how much rain might be falling from the sky as we anticipate the return of the sunshine.

Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management, Coping Skills, Life Transitions, Relationships, Self-Esteem/ Self-Image, Mind-Body Connection, Trauma, Suicidality

I am a firm believer that our mental health and physical health are one and the same; inextricably connected, one impacting the other. We must examine both in order to best support our overall health and wellness. For me, I consider my role as a healer to be the greatest honor and privilege. It is deeply humbling to have the opportunity to walk side by side with other human beings on their healing journeys as we navigate this thing called life together. This work sets my soul on fire; guiding, educating, supporting, and empowering individuals to lead their most meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Michele Koch-LaFemina

LPC / Licensed Professional Counselor

With over 20 years of experience in various settings including agencies, in-home, partial hospitalizations, and private practice, I’ve had the privilege to witness some incredible transformations in people’s lives. While seeking to provide a warm, healing, and nonjudgmental environment, I have worked with individuals, couples, and groups to help them manage stress and heal emotional wounds, bringing into awareness past learning that may block their happiness today.

My clients range from childhood to adulthood. I am comfortable working with most ages and really enjoy working with teenagers and young adults. My desire is to gently motivate, educate, inspire, and empower individuals to establish healthy emotional boundaries. Therapy should be a tell-all safe space for the client to comfortably share their deepest thoughts, desires, and cognitive distortions.

Working with individuals with concerns related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, substance abuse, trauma, relational concerns, as well an ally to LGBTQ, has provided many opportunities to work with amazing people on a personal level. Goals tend to focus on leading the client over their own personal bridge of insecurity, irrationality, and low self-esteem. This bridge is a catalyst for self-growth and empowerment through the use of goal setting, mindfulness, and making positive creative changes in their lives. Those seeking therapy are looking for a change, a purpose, or a way to make sense of their current or past circumstances. By working together, we can collaborate in effectively learning coping skills, mind shift changes, and new scripts to allow for growth, change, and the emergence of a deeper self and awareness.

CBT, Mindfulness, TF-CBT, Person Centered

Helping others find belief in themselves where confidence is a struggle allows for feelings of joy and celebration when clients experience success on their therapy journey.

I found my passion in this field by being a support system for others when they felt that they were alone. I am passionate about helping people through their most challenging and vulnerable times. As the late great Mister Rogers once said: “Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”
